What remains in your bones and brain, long after it began, constantly mingling with all the other music you pick up along the way.
A song needs a body—something tangible. And a sense of presence. The song has to be authentic—real—something the listener can truly connect with.
Seasoned "youths" who collectively represent centuries of rock-band mishaps and pop-music moments... Drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, and vocals. Uplifting and comforting. Six guys on stage. Clatter and energy! The audience leaves happier and more numerous than when Mudfish first stepped on stage.
Åke and Lövas go way back! They first met while practicing marching drills with Olle Sylme’ at the municipal music school in Borås. They played together as a dual-drummer team, swapped instruments, performed endless youth-center gigs, and even toured Spain.
They wrote songs remotely by mailing cassette tapes back and forth between Karlstad and Borås in the mid-80s. They started the band Detektiverna in 1990 and played Swedish pop-rock until they lost their last guitarist.
"Let's do something different" was the starting point in 1997, when it became clear they had the chance to break the mold. English vocals—baby, yeah—short songs, no solos. A dream of touring England.
Following their own instincts, Mudfish has constantly sought that groove, that expression, and a connection with the audience—finding a unique sound of their own, still faithful to the rock and pop that ignited the flame in their hearts. It’s a space where the presence is immediate and the audience is welcomed into Mudfish’s swinging rattle. Harmonica and driving bass, piano, organ, and horns. Mudfish’s long journey is reflected in a musical expression drawing on the 70s, 80s, and 90s, blended with a rootedness in the present and perspectives that wants to inspire courage and hope.
